Rules: 90-minute team race (teams of 2)

Qualifying: 20 minutes | Race time: 90 minutes | Minimum weight: 85.0 kg

1. basic data

  • Race format: Team Endurance
  • Qualifying: 20 minutes
  • Race duration: 90 minutes (net)
  • Teams: 2 drivers per team
  • Minimum weight (driver incl. equipment): 85.0 kg
  • Kart allocation: During the race, karts are swapped during driver changes (kart rotation handled by race control/pit crew).
  • Scoring: Most laps completed. In the event of a tie, the order of crossing the finish line or total time as recorded by the timing system will determine the result.

2. participation, equipment, briefing

  • The briefing is mandatory for both drivers on each team.
  • Helmets are required; closed-toe shoes must be worn; no loose clothing.
  • Alcohol/drugs: Zero tolerance – disqualification by race officials is possible.
  • Employees of MS Kart & Event Center GmbH are excluded from the race.

3rd qualifying (20 minutes)

  • Objective: To determine the starting grid.
  • One driver per team (standard) – deviations from this rule only upon instruction from race control.
  • The team’s fastest lap counts.
  • Obstructions during qualifying must be avoided; race officials may cancel laps or impose penalties.

4. starting procedure

  • Starting grid based on qualifying results.
  • Start format: Grid start or rolling start as directed by race control.
  • Jump start: 10-second Stop&Go (or equivalent time penalty).

5. driver change & stint obligation

5.1 Compulsory: Each driver must drive 2 stints

  • Each of the two drivers must have driven the kart at least twice.
  • This means: At least 3 driver changes per team (e.g., A → B → A → B or B → A → B → A).
  • A stint only counts if the driver was actually driving on the track (simply sitting in the kart or downtime does not count).

5.2 Stint length / fairness

  • Guideline: No driver should drive for more than 60 minutes in total.
  • Recommendation: Evenly distributed stints (e.g., approx. 20–25 minutes).

6. minimum weight 85.0 kg

  • Testing: Random and/or upon suspicion before the start and/or after the race.
  • Failure to meet the limit (proven): Time penalty or disqualification at the discretion of race officials.

Recommendation as a clear rule:

  • Under 85.0 kg: +5 laps or disqualification for repeated/intentional violations.

7. pit rules (max. 3 teams at the same time)

  • No more than 3 teams may be in the pit/transition area at the same time.
  • If the pit is full, the team must wait in front of the pit entrance and may only enter upon instruction (or in the designated waiting area).
  • The following rules apply in the pit: walk at a slow pace, exercise extreme caution, and follow the pit crew’s instructions.
  • Only riders and a maximum of one additional person per team are allowed in the transition zone.

8. swapping karts when changing drivers

When drivers switch, the kart is swapped (rotation).

  • Kart swapping ensures a level playing field; discussions about kart performance during the race are not permitted.

Standard procedure:

  1. Enter the pit lane only in the marked zone.
  2. The kart must come to a complete stop.
  3. Perform driver change.
  4. Team receives assigned new kart (from race control/pit crew).
  5. Exit only after clearance.

9. flags & signals

  • Yellow: Danger – No passing, reduce speed.
  • Red: Cancellation/Interruption – Slow down, follow instructions.
  • Blue: Faster karts – stay in your lane, let them pass fairly.
  • Black: Immediate pit stop (Race Control).
  • Black/Orange: Technical issue – pit this lap.
  • Checkered flag: End of race.

10. driving rules (fair play)

Prohibited:

  • Ramming/pushing, intentional contact
  • Cutting off, repeated blocking
  • Cutting corners for an advantage
  • Dangerous dive bombs

Overtaking:

  • Contact-free and clean. The overtaking rider is responsible for a safe maneuver.

11. penalties (reference values)

  • Warning: minor infractions
  • Time penalty +10–30 sec or Stop&Go 10 sec: unsafe maneuvers, ignoring a yellow flag
  • Stop-and-go penalty of 20 seconds or +1 lap: contact resulting in an advantage, dangerous driving
  • Disqualification: gross unsportsmanlike conduct, ignoring black flag, intentional endangerment
  • Mandatory stints not completed (driver did not complete 2 stints): Disqualification or +10 laps (recommendation: disqualification)
  • Below minimum weight: +5 laps or disqualification

12th race interruption

  • If the light turns red, the race time is stopped or continues, depending on the race director's decision (Center Standard).
  • Restart as a rolling start.

13. finish / Parc fermé

  • After the check: Slow down, pull into the pit, follow instructions.
  • Results are preliminary pending weight and stint checks.
